questions about life insurance process

Hi,

I'm currently looking into life insurance but am hesitant to move forward. The reason is that I am currently taking an antidepressant. I had been on it for awhile and then was off. When I got pregnant, my doctor put me on due to the impact of hormones. After the babies were born, he uppped it a bit due to post-partum depression. It is now 9 months later and I am still on the antidepressants. I am feeling fine and am otherwise healthy, at a good weight, exercise, etc.

My issue is not in telling the truth to a life insurance company, even if it raises my rates. However, I am concerned about privacy as any information will be reported to MIB and become part of my permanent record. Is there any way to avoid this? I am so against the information becoming "public"--even if it just to the insurance companies--that I find it is preventing me from moving forward. Any advice?

Thanks.

Hi,

I completely understand your concern about privacy. In this day and age many people have access to information about us, and it seems like an invasion.

For the purpose of getting insurance, there is no avoiding full disclosure. It is simply insurance fraud if you lie on an application. As such, your beneficiaries may not get paid.

But bear this in mind: millions of people with depression get life insurance. Underwriters see thousands of cases each week with people that have sensitive conditions. They are handled professionally and in full compliance with privacy protection regulations.

Your broker must know how to handle your inquiry so that you feel comfortable. Please don't hesitate to contact me personally if you need assistance.
